Most ironman wins (men)

Okay,
This one is for the either the historians experts or those that have been in the sports forever. We all know that PNF has the most Ironman career wins (24). Who’s the man with the most Ironman win and how many??? Not only Hawaii wins (Scott and Allen) have both 6 wins but all IM events.

man that is a good question…worth bumping to keep it in view. I think it is Tinley though I’m not positive. Be interesting to find out who it is and how many they have. I think Heather Fuhr is #2 for the women and she is well into double digits now as well but not sure how many she has either. Bu ump.

I think it is Tinley though I’m not positive.

I with Kentiger on this one, my money’s on Scott Tinley. He raced an awful lot of IMs all over the place.

Peter reid with 11 or so wins
.

Within the last couple years, one of the tri sites (I think xtremetri) posted a table of most IM wins for both men and women. I tried to find it, but couldn’t.

  1. Peter has won 3 Hawaii, 3 Australia, 2 Canada, 1 Lanzarote, 1 Austria = 10
  2. Lothar Leder has 10 also (5 Roth, 1 Florida, 1 Japan, 1 south africa, 1 NZ, 1 Germany)
  3. Allen has 6 Kona and 2 Japan, one being the shorter course = 8
  4. Ray Browning also has 7 inc. the original shorter course in NZ
  5. Pauli Kiuru has 7 all IM (1 NZ, 2 roth, 4 australia)
  6. Jurgen Zack has 7 (4 Europe, without counting the first win over a shorter distance, 2 Austria, 1 Australia)
  7. Dave Scott has 6 Kona and 1 Japan = 7
  8. Scott Tinley has won 2 Hawaii, 2 New Zealand (inc. the original course which wasn’t an IM), 2 Japan (with one being a shorter course) and 1 Canada = from 5 to 7

Thanks François for writting down such a detail explanation.

btw, walking in Tempe today, Olaf and I saw Heather Fuhr and PNF at a table and had a short chat…couldn’t help thinking that was something like 37 IM titles…ouch!
