So…would you say anything if there was a race that you knew of…and at the finish line they were giving out official IronMan finishers clothing as “schwag”? This is from an IM a couple years ago…weird…
Shouldn’t the topic be IM-postors???
Need more info…
-
Is this an iron distance race?
-
Who is giving it out? The non-WTC race staff?
-
How did they acquire the clothing? Did they buy it?
-
Would we say anything to whom?

Is this an iron distance race? - Not this is not - not even 1/4 IM
-
Who is giving it out? The non-WTC race staff? - Not anyone who has anything to do with WTC, USAT, or any other body.
-
How did they acquire the clothing? Did they buy it? - Did not buy it, cant say.
-
Would we say anything to whom? - not sure really, maybe the people who made the clothing?
It’s a t-shirt, get over it… I didn’t have anything to sleep with the other day, I wore an IM finishers t-shirt… slept like a baby… ![]()
Just trying to understand this a bit better:
-
It’s a non IM race with no affliation with the WTC at all - not even an IM qualifier?
-
It’s not a full IM race?
-
. . but they are still handing out offcial IM Finisher apparel?

Well… If it’s not official Ironman gear, then perhaps WTC needs to know about it, since they need to police their trademarks.
If it is official Ironman gear, and they bought it, they’re probably free to give it away if they want to, even if the race is a sprint. I would think WTC would be pleased if they’re giving away properly obtained, official Ironman gear, because it increases their exposure.
Here’s a possibility. Just taking a flyer here.
It’s not uncommon for overages and ends-of-lines for custom apparel to make it into the deep discount aftermarket - Winners, TJ Mexx and on down the line. I have seen this myself. Perhaps the RD bought the stuff this way and just handed it out as give-aways or prizes. Not that I would condone this, as it is a disregard for the IM trademark and brand and the WTC, I suspect, if they knew about it, would not be pleased.

You mean you peed your pants and woke up every five minutes crying for your mother?
Does it really matter all that much? As I understand it, IM is about personal transformation, not about the shirt you get. I have a huge t shirt colletion, mostly races I have done. Sometime I wear a t shirt from a race my boyfriend did ( and vice versa) , I don’t think twice about it. I suppose if someone inquired as to whether or not I had done the race I’d say “no, its a borrowed shirt”, or maybe I’d say “hell yeah, in fact I won the race”. If they’re giving them away they are not profitting from it, why should the WTC care?
No, I would do that if I had to walk 42km with a big blister on my foot…
Sierra Trading Post had a bunch of nice technical shirts from an IM, selling for $10 each. A while ago they reduced them to $5 to clear them out. Maybe the RD went shopping there ?

Stop or I will post it again. And it was both feet. But the humiliation was worse than the pain.
post the other foot Monk - I’m trying to lose some weight here and that first pic of yours stopped me eating for about 48hrs;
.
I admit it. I’m a poser.
I got all the crazy Timex bags and gear from the team last year and I feel like a TOTAL poser when I have that bag in the gym or at the pool because it has the mdot logo on it. It’s such a nice bag I hate to give it up. Maybe I should get a patch to put over the logo or something.
Monk, I think you should post weekly photos of those feet, so we can see the healing progress. Hope they’re doing better.
