More Importantly: What does this mean for the '09 Vuelta?

Astana is in, so who is going? What will the dynamic be?

Leipheimer.

Leipheimer.
That would be awesome if AC, LA, or both rode in support of Levi, but i don’t know… Doesn’t Lance want the Vuelta to help cement his “greatest rider of all time” claim? Seems to be his only knock that he hasn’t won the Vuelta or Giro.

What it means is that if Lance isn’t in it, there’s no way it will be televised here in the US. Lame.

" Seems to be his **only **knock that he hasn’t won the Vuelta or Giro"

What else has he won? Looking at his Wikipedia entry… not much… except for the Tour.

One trick pony.

world championships

btw if contador wants to do the vuelta ill be happy to be his loyal teamate

for the first 10 minutes before i get dropped and miss the time cut

right. winning the world championships is such a small accomplishment.

Right… they forgot the asterisk next to that… that’s how I missed it.

The logical choice would be Leipheimer. Brunyeel needs to start worrying about Contador’s legs. They need rest at some point.

Leipheimer has stated he’s out due to the surgery on his wrist…

No one will ever supplant Eddy Merckx in the “greatest ever”. Lance is four grand tours, two world championships and 20 monument classics short, not to mention numerous other smaller races. Merckx might not have been quite as dominant in today’s environment of multi-national talent and classic vs. grand tour speciallization, but we will never know and thus no one will ever come close to this:

7 wins In Milan-San Remo
2 wins in the Tour of Flanders
3 wins in Paris-Roubaix
5 wins in L-B-L
2 wins in the Tour of Lombardy
1 Spain tour
5 Italy tours
5 France tours
3 world championships

Ok, I’m done.

Best news is Universal Sports has picked up and has promised lots of coverage.

Lance won’t go. Levi will get “sick”. Horner might go with “special orders” from Lance. Jani will win.

I´d like to see Brajkovic in Vuelta.

  • hour record using 1972 equipment (drop handlebar, round steel tubing, standard wire spokes).

Winning the yellow, spotted and green jersey at the same Tour. Cut me a break.

Take that, Lance.

Lance has stated he thinks Merckx is the best rider ever, I’m sure he’s not offended at all. Especially since the two are good friends.
