that bike looks almost exactly like one a weight weenie built in his garage afew years back. still looks cool though.

thanks for the photos.

any idea what the depression and small, ovalish-shaped piece is on the outside of the crank (on the the chainring side) ?

please tell me that is not just a logo crank brothers puts there.

LOL… sorry, but I think that’s just their logo…

Anyone else think that Easton crank looks a bit like a ripoff of the Time crank?

That Cobalt also isn’t integrated…you can see where the NDS arm bolts onto the spindle, and it’s a standard ISIS BB.

I don’t think that is a standard ISIS BB, more like maybe a hybrid of an integrated BB and a standard ISIS. It appears to have outboard bearings, but without the spindle integrated into the crankset, and it also appears to have the bearing adjustment mechanism integrated into the crankarm, so installation should be very similar to other integrated cranks.

External ISIS isn’t something new, though. A quick look through a QBP catalog puts it at a minimum two years old.

I stand corrected. I hadn’t seen that system actually specced on any bikes before.

I haven’t actually seen them in person, just known of their existence. I’m thinking it was something that started in the downhill market…which would explain the lack of actual experience with them. Downhill = not real biking.

Nope… The Cobalt SLI has an integrated spindle on the nds and uses external bb… pretty clear from the pictures:

compared to the CB Isis one:

The Cobalt S as well:

People buy bikes so they can just ride them downhill??? What is this world coming to?

Next you’ll be telling me that some of these folks wear their petrified pet piranha around their neck.

In the last pic it’s a lot more obvious it’s an integrated spindle…but my point still stands that external bearings != integrated spindle.

LOL… one last time:

"That Cobalt also isn’t integrated Yes it is …you can see where the NDS arm bolts onto the spindle which is integrated into the nds crank arm , and it’s a standard ISIS BB No it’s not.

One last time dumbass, I said in my last post that ‘‘it’s a lot more obvious it’s an integrated spindle’’, but that ‘‘external bearings don’t mean integrated spindle’’. Look at the link, moron. It’s a 3 year old product called a Howitzer made by TV…and oh! External bearings on a 3 piece crank!!! Holy shit!!! Was I right all along that external bearings don’t always mean 2 pc crank!?! Jesus H. Christ! I think I was!

And in case that last one doesn’t work after being shortened by ST:
www.truvativ.com → bottom brackets → Howitzer Team, Howitzer XR, Howitzer XR M15…take your pick.
