More bad news for the Obama crime family

Even MSNBC (the Obama News Network) is reporting the tax problems of Daschle and other Obama cabinet nominees. And MSNBC reports their poll finding that only 9% of Americans approve of cheating on your taxes. Olbermann can’t say anything because - you guessed it - he is also guilty of not paying over $100,000 in taxes. Wow, when even the blatently biased news is reporting your faux pas, brother you got troubles!

DIFFERENT PARTY IN CHARGE - SAME OLD SLIME. It’s like nothing really changed.

Not surprised that things came up with some of the noms, but am surprised that most of Obama's crew are getting in anyway. Generally, in the past if you had any problems like this you pulled out (eg. Zoe Baird, Linda Chavez, etal). I think Obama is getting a little extra lattitude in these economic times, but I'm troubled by the precedent or new (lower) bar we are allowing for our leaders.

Um yeah. Bush and his cronies set the bar so low that Obama can step over it. I nominate this post for the Troll of the Day award.

I nominate you for troll of the day. If Bush had nominated people like this the liberals in this country would be all over it like stink on sh*& talk about your double standard. What Obama has done with Daschle and Geithner is disgusting and the fact that the Senate has let him do it is even more disgusting. Obama pulled a fast one on the American people and the Senate let him do it. We now have people that have cheated the people of the US in positions of power, but I guess they are no different than the rest of the politicians. I still find it funny that some on this board were all over Joe the plumber for not paying taxes but now they are fine with having Daschle and Geithner in the Cabinet.

Yet another first for Obama…

Assuming Daschle is confirmed (and I’d be surprised if he wasn’t) I don’t beleive that any other president has ever knowingly appointed two tax cheats to his cabinet before.

Another proud page in American history.

And yet more today;

WASHINGTON (AP) - Nancy Killefer, who failed for a year and a half to pay employment taxes on household help, has withdrawn her candidacy to be the first chief performance officer for the federal government, the White House said Tuesday.
Killefer was the second major Obama administration nominee to withdraw and the third to have tax problems complicate their nomination after President Barack Obama announced their selection.
The White House said Obama had accepted Killefer’s decision and that the 55-year-old executive with consulting giant McKinsey & Co., would explain her reasons for pulling out later Tuesday.
When her selection was announced by Obama on Jan. 7, The Associated Press disclosed that in 2005 the District of Columbia government had filed a $946.69 tax lien on her home for failure to pay unemployment compensation tax on household help.
Since then, administration officials have refused to answer questions about the tax error which she resolved five months after the lien was filed.

WASHINGTON (AP)—An Obama administration official says Nancy Killefer is withdrawing her candidacy to be the first chief performance officer for the federal government.
The official said the 55-year-old executive with consulting giant McKinsey & Co., will detail her reason for pulling out later Tuesday.
When her selection was announced by President Barack Obama on Jan. 7, The Associated Press disclosed that in 2005 the District of Columbia government had filed a more than $900 tax lien on her home for failure to pay unemployment compensation tax on household help.
Since then, administration officials have refused to answer questions about the tax error which she resolved five months after the lien was filed.

I am VERY disappointed with OBAMA and his choices. I was truly hoping for the RIGHT change, but after the first few weeks it appears that the DEMS are just MORE OF THE SAME!

I think this brings up a good point of how some things are “Legit” and others are not.

I can understand how someone can screw up on their taxes. Happens all the time. I also understand that the government “Takes action” in collecting that “Screw up” often times before you have a chance to do anything about it.

I do not understand the magnitude and simplicity of some screw ups. For instance I don’t know of too many people that can have a 50K tax screw up that are using Turbo Tax to file. I also don’t know of too many people that can have that size of a screw up that would miss a simple point like not paying the “Employers” half of taxes when they are self employed.

In the end you have to have some judgment call.

Obama is making a big mistake if he thinks he can appoint tax cheats to his gov, he is destroying the very cred he ran on. Daschle needs to remove himself from consideration. A bigger issue here is it appears that everyone and their mother has either “forgotten”, not paid their taxes or hired an illegal alien to clean. There is no excuse for this behaviour other then they are cheaters…

Nancy Killefer on Tuesday withdrew her nomination to become chief performance officer, a new post in President Obama’s administration, a White House spokesman told CNN. http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/POLITICS/02/03/performance.nominee.withdraws/art.killefer.gi.jpg
Nancy Killefer appears with then President-elect Obama at a news conference in early January.http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/.element/img/2.0/mosaic/base_skins/baseplate/corner_wire_BL.gif
Officials said privately the reason for the withdrawal was unspecified tax issues.

I agree, Daschle should be removed from consideration.

It seems like people that have the means to hire gardeners, drivers, nannies, maids, etc also are extremely prone evading taxes on the help.

I am simply amazed at how many people are just waiting for Obama to mess things up. You seem almost giddy with excitement.

Not to hijack so I started a different thread, but I just looked up this household help thing, and its clear as mud. Any opinions you have on the other thread would be interesting…

See my reply to MJuric, its no too clear to me what the obligation is…

A lot of us looked past “Hope” and “Change” and realized there was nothing really new there. Fact is, I’m rather sad that Obama seems bent on proving us right.

I for one am not giddy with excitement. I am ashamed that the two people that ran for president were the two best we could come up with. Both were horrible choices and now we are seeing that Obama is just another politician and not the change that people thought he would be. I think it shows that the two party system that we have isn’t working and we desperately need a viable third party to get our country back on track. I do feel vindicated in that Obama is doing exactly what I said he would do, surround himself with corruption and studipidity. I didn’t want to be right but I knew I would be.

Daschle is out, no thanks to the senate, as they were forced to do what's right by exposure. A good example of the importance of the press in our country.

"Um yeah. Bush and his cronies set the bar so low that Obama can step over it. I nominate this post for the Troll of the Day award. "

But, but, but Bush! Oh this great stuff. They are not tax cheats if they are on your team. I love the zombies of the political parties.

Tell us how you determined that Obama has deliberately chosen corruption and stupidity. Did he seek people out who he thought would be corrupt?

I suspect that what’s going on here is akin to why pro cycling produces more positive drug tests than, say, pro soccer: there is a lot more scrutiny in the pro peleton than in European football. The amount of digging into these nominee’s backgrounds is astounding.

I am simply amazed that anyone can not see this for what it is, but apparently the kool aid is much stronger then I thought.

4 appointees have some kind of tie to fraud in some way or another, 2 get in, the other 2 back out. Either it’s a rookie mistake by a President with no experience or it’s Illinois politics making it’s way into Washington, or both. If you’re not familiar with Illinois politics make sure to tune into Letterman tonight to see the latest rock star from the Illinois Democratic machine.

I didn’t vote for Pres. Obama, but I was hoping he would live up to his word and start to effect some change once he got the going. With the politics as usual over this “stimulus” bill and his selection of cabinet appointees it’s not looking good.

Scrutiny? Did you or did you not pay your taxes seems to be a very simple question to answer. If we were talking forgetting to report 100 bucks I could understand. But we are not. We are talking about people that have power screwing up because they thing they are above the law. How do you forget to report $140K? Gates or Buffet might but somehow they don’t.

apparently someone listened to you, Daschle pulled his name off the table.
