Moo registration

Anyone know when it opens online at active.com?

Are you kidding? It probably will not even get a chance.

I just got in online no sweat. See you there!

Me too!

got in too. quite easily.

Just registered. I am in.

But as someone else said before. Registering is the easy part, now the work starts.

Are you kidding? It probably will not even get a chance.
Wide open!

I was surprised, I am guessing only about 1,000 people were there for in person registration. I volunteered, got in the back of the line at 8:15, they had already started registering volunteers at that point. I was done in less than 1 hour and they had just started taking the non-volunteers, but the line wasn’t all that long. A friend registered on-line at ~12:10, definitely a down year.

Still open online @ 1:45 central…

Over/Under on when it fills?

I got in on-line, too.

Surprised… but in.

Yep, I also got in. Last year it didn’t last even an hour, right?

Got in with no problem at 12:07pm central, my sister-in-law did too, no problem. Can’t wait to race with her in my first Ironman, her second. Great family event for us.

Boy was I wrong! If I would have known that the online thing would be open, I wouldn’t have stood in line for almost 4 hours at the Terrace after 3 hours of sleep!!!

Same trend at CDA and Canada earlier this year… definitely a slight sag in the market.

i got in online. first iron distance race, but at least i get to sleep in my own bed the night before!

I volunteered and showed up to registration at about 10:15 am today. People were real salty when I went to the head of the line. They said people were swapping volunteer shirts all morning and that they got there at 2 or 3 am to wait. I was out of there in 12 minutes.

I didn’t know a shirt was a ticket. Don’t they confirm with a volunteer print out, photo ID, etc.?

I’ll be interested to see if this trend holds through IM Florida. Given how newbie heavy that race is, if they don’t show up, then we know that the economy is not getting better.

They have increased the size/number of participants of these races. Canada will be pushing 3,000 next year. So, tough to say whether it’s demand or supply.

Also, expect crowded courses, that’s just the nature of it – demand outstrips supply, increase supply until equilribium and maximize profits.

After sitting at the back of the line with the look of not getting in, I did think about buying a shirt off of somebody for $20 just to get in the volunteer line and unsure my ticket in. I did NOT do this, and I got in anyhow.
