uh…wow.
2 questions
what do you do for a living that allows you to ride 20 hours a week?
what about swim and run totals?
my totals were way down for the month since I crashed my bike 2 weeks ago but 56 hours for the 4 weeks before the crash. 4 sessions/sport/week. 41,000 yds swimming, 570 mi biking, 110 mi running
I’m with Nick on this one. 561 biking, 88 Running, 64,000 yds swimming.
I think sojourner is a professional house sitter for slowman which leaves him lots of time to ride in between dog feedings.
I do keep records of my mileage both through my Polar HRM and The Athlete’s Diary from Steven’s Creek Software.
To a degree, my mileage is an embarrasment, my bike mileage is good, but the rest sucks:
Bike: 789.6 miles.
Run: 38 miles.
Swim: Zip, zero zilch.
I don’t have my log in front of me, but with two workouts per sport per week (that’s right, 6 w/o per week only), I’m around 28k swimming; 160k running; and 600k riding.
If I can slowly increase this over the next 4-5 months, I’ll be good to go for IMWA.
Ok, I keep better track of miles biked, but time swimming so for May (my best month yet)
Bike – 135 miles
Swim – 1hr 32 min.
Run – 0
Weight 235 lbs and not moving.
Ok, its been more than 2 weeks since I’ve been swimming.
may rode 906mi, swam 43.8k, ran 91mi. supposed to run and swim more. this is not very good considering i still suck, dont have a real job, and im poor
Month Totals - May
Swim 64.1 km 24:30 hrs
Bike 619.1 mi 36:45 hrs
Run 106.1 mi 19:55 hrs
Weights 00:50 hrs
Total Duration: 82:00 hrs
.
My May totals, from by beginnertriathlete.com log:
Swim:
19 h, 14 min, 30.5 miles
Bike:
37 h, 666.6 miles
Run:
18h, 30 min, 138.5 miles
Probably would have been a bit more, but the month included a light week and my current taper week for my race on Sunday. This is a good thread idea. If I get faster, then I want people to know why!!

Bike - 430.6 mi
Run - 102.2 mi
The Other TD
.
April

May
Swim 3.5k
Bike 1633k
Run 71k
Objectives - Bike only races spring until end June, 1/2 and Oly in July, 1/2 and IMC in Aug.
Two thoughts:
You guys bike way too much and I KNEW I was running too fast in May…
May was a lower volume month. June begins ramping up again.
S: 14,914 m (7:40)
B: 228.4 mi road only (24:51 - includes both road and trainer time)
R: 67.5 mi (14:33)
Wts/Spar: 9x (8:15)
Time: 54:20
I’m taking the year off from tri’s due to back and hip problems, so a bit skewed…
bike = 0 miles
run = 0 miles
swim = 64 miles (112,650 yds) / 34.5 hours
yoga/pilates/stretching = 37.4 hours
scott
Swim: 9500 yds
Bike: 465 miles
Run: 75 miles
I think May was the low so far this year (I’m a student and May is finals month).
I’ll try to remember to post my numbers at the end of June; hopefully these numbers will have at least doubled by then. Oh, swimming should at least triple - man, I was a slacker.
This is kind of like a support group for addicts isn’t it?
Bike: 19h 27m 08s - 330.2 Mi
Run: 12h 38m 40s - 87 Mi
Swim: 13h 23m 35s - 39643 Yd
.
If you’re a triathlete you’re riding way too much.
If you’re a cyclist, you’re not riding enough.
What’s your CP-whatever wattage?
What was your weekly/daily TSS?
In any case, it’ll be about 10 times mine.
You people are all frickin’ nuts.
I don’t have my training diary in front of me, but I only do a little over 6 hrs a week on avg, so, simple math suggests that I probably did about 25+/- hours for May. Maybe more, since I was ramping up for my first HIM, plus the race - or maybe less, since I had a taper week and a recovery week in there too.
Sojourner, you have way more saddle time in May alone, than I have for the entire YTD. Probably close to ditto for Tom D. (actually, I think I haven’t quite cracked 1k bike miles for the year, but that’s going from memory)
I’d like to introduce you folks to a cool new concept, it is called the Law of Diminishing Returns.
IF I had 20 hrs a week to train, I’d still train less than 10 on average, and spend the rest w/ my family, or mebbe go rock climbing some more. YMMV (and, it obviously does!)
Swim 44100
Bike 495
Run 114
This month had 2 easy weeks in it so the swim and run numbers are down slightly. I really wanted to put in some more bike miles but the weather didn’t cooperate.
