I rode Palomar (South Grade) a couple of weeks ago when the Tour came to town. Now I am looking to ride another San Diego legend - Borrego Springs / Montezuma Grade. On the map it looks like it is about 11 miles long.
Any comments on comparing the two climbs, and other advice would be appreciated.

Haven’t ridden Palomar but did Montezuma last year. Rode it in October so it was pretty damn hot up there then. I didn’t think the grade was too bad, it got steep for one section in particular around the 5-7 km mark as I remember it, but after that you could generate quite a bit of ‘go forward’ on the false flats before you hit the steeper sections.
The weather’s obviously a bit easier on you this time of year. I understand it’s a lot greener up there at the mo than when we rode it last year. Sam ran the full length of it yesterday and according to Siri she totally dominated it. If she can run it…you can ride it!
