So, thought I would post this because it’s a great story.
This is my friend Ellen that I went to Ball State University with and she is biking across Ohio in 27 days, 850 miles for the Children’s Miracle Network. She’s a super awesome person. I ran live sound for our singing and dancing group, the Ball State University Singers and she was a cast member in it so I got to know her pretty well. One of the kindest hearts, incredibly smart, motivated and goal driven, and real down to earth. Sometimes people get a misconception that Miss America contestants are all beauty and no brain, she’s definitely not.
She will be competing in Miss America 2012 and it’s exciting to say I know her.
Good for her. Nice to see a pageant winner doing something active like this. I happen to be one of those people that hate pageants - especially when kids are involved - but can’t fault her for doing this bike tour. Hope she brings some happiness to the children in the hospitals.
Don’t go outside and take pictures of yourself dressed like a Fred, then post said pictures on the Interwebz if you don’t want to be called out for being a Fred.
Just because one’s sense of aesthetics is different from that of Slowtwitch’s does not preclude one from gratuitous commentary. Your cause - however noble it may or may not be - does not for a “get-out-jail-free” card make.
