Minoura bottle holder brackets

I am going to make a small run of carbon fibre brackets for the Minoura bottle holder. These are much simpler and a bunch lighter than the heavy bracket that is supplied.

Email me for details. velobunny@aol.com

Heya Bunny…are we talking about the plate that the bracket bolts onto or the double mount bracket itself? How do you get a thread pattern into the carbon to pass the bolt through? If you have a demo already made send me an email of what it looks like…might be needing to get me one.

It is the bracket that the holder bolts onto, which sandwiches the saddle rails with the Minoura holder itself.

I bond threaded inserts with a highly advanced automotive/aerospace epoxy. It is the same stuff that 98% of the industry uses.

None are finished, but when I get the first batch done, I will let you see a sample via email.

Does this type rack interfer with my spair tubbie stufed behind my seat ? Thanks Thom

If you mount your tub on the seatpost, no.

Do you mean the plate that goes behind the seat rails?

correct. The stock one is plain ugly and is heavy. My solution is elegant and lightweight.

Not only is it ugly and heavy, it also has to be modified for several popular triathlon saddles and seatpost combinations. We are always grinding those things down at the corners or cutting the corners off to get them to work right.

It is just a big 'ol sheet of steel. It sucks. Your idea is a good one.

How do we buy them?

I agree with TD…but how about going whole hog on the thing and making a full carbon one? Now that’d be sweet.

full carbon would be tough I bet…

Also, are you first in line for a $200 bottle cage holder?

what…no TSR discount on this one? I’d be the only one sporting one full carbon…might be worth it in envy factor.

Hey Tom…opinion on the Catcage water bottle cages? Thinking of getting a couple for the wifes, very small, road bike.

I will have some production samples ready in a few weeks. E mail me at velobunny@aol.com

I am waiting on suppliers right now.

I could do a one-off for you- but it comes at a price. You would be the ONLY person to have one, however…

I know it would take a lot of time (you’re pretty good with production quality from the work I’ve seen) and a fair bit of material…how much would you guesstimate something like that would cost…me?

If we were to try and copy the Minoura, it wouldn’t take too terribly much time and material. But, $200 is not totally out of line, as I would have to make the tooling from scratch. Even with “lost foam” tooling, this could prove a bit expensive. Also, it would include such things as the saddle rail bracket that I am running, and I could even do it out of “white” or “gold” carbon. All threads would be steel epoxied into the structure with an extremely high shear-strength epoxy used in both the aircraft and high-performance auto industries (as well as the bike industry).
