(Minor) Swim Breakthroughs

It’s rare when one day of swimming feels materially different than previous days. I usually have to think back weeks/months to detect improvement. Yesterday was an exception.

After doing a bunch of relatively hard 50s and a few 100s, I did one-arm 25s, switching sides every 25. Didn’t count how many I did, but it was a lot more than I usually do in my perfunctory execution of drills. At the end of that, I swam a few 25s, 50s, and a 100. Wow, suddenly I could hold that off-side arm up, pressing the ear/chin against my shoulder. My 50 time wasn’t any faster than my earlier 50s (right around 52-54 secs), but it was less effort and fewer strokes. Hmm. For once, I got out of the pool feeling improvement.

I’m curious to hear what others did that resulted in breakthroughs…

A lot of hard work and miles

Seriously - great news. Keep it up. Swimming is such a fickle sport and thus consistency and perseverance is the only way.
