does anyone know what the minimum age is for an Ironman or where I could find that info?
18, I believe. I.e. you must be a legal adult… It’ll be on Ironman.com somewhere. Or just shoot them an email.
thanks
.
Yeap, 18 on race day!
Good Luck , Tom
At the Californiaman, there was a 16 year old that I ran with for a while that finished. He was a stud and his story and how it went from an overweight kid to an ironman was great to hear at the awards ceremony. He may have been written up in on of the tri magazines after his finish.

anyone know the minimum age for half Ironmans?
It’s going to vary depending on the race director’s policies. Check with the specific race you’re thinking about. I’ve seen a few instances of race entry forms that had signature lines for parents in the event the participant was under 18. I’m sure you can find a race somewhere that you can get in if you have the P’s permission.
I have seen 16yo olds at HIM distances before. I started Nasty grade with one at WF a few years ago.
Minimum age is decided by event directors but for Half IMs they tend to keep it higher because of the demands of the training. Honu 70.3 is 17 but to compete for an IM slot you must be 18 on race day. IM Hawaii is 18 and anyone who qualifies must also be 18 on the day of their qualifier race.
