Milan-San Remo SPOILER

Wow, what a finish for Cav, still the fastest rider in the peloton. Haussler of Cervelo went off the front of a very large pace after the final turn and made a 10 metre lead with 100 or so metres to go. But Cav had the extra gear and the legs to finish half a wheel ahead of Haussler with Thor in third.

Phew, what a finish!

awesome finish!

It would be great if he can hold that form for July, what maybe 5 stage wins or more? Wow! I bet the Cervelo team bus will be interesting on the way home with Thor having sometime to say!

Amazing finish from Cav. Closing 10+m in what seemed like a second.

So I was happily watching the race on live feed of Radio Televison Asturias when they broke it off just below Poggio and switched to a music show.

W T F ???

Any Spaniards here who can explain? They did not even say they were going to break off. Had to follow lame live ticker on cn.com.
Will have to check youtube for a replay. sigh…

The guy is awesome. I didn’t think Haussler and I were the only ones that thought his move was the one to get the win at the time.

That was an INSANE finish!!!

Haussler says he jumped out to set up hushovd… looked back and he wasn’t on his wheel and cavendish was charging up.
i wonder how hushovd saw it?

I don’t think he will be shy in advising Haussler how he saw it!

LOL, my thoughts as well. Not bad with 2nd and 3rd for Cervelo all things considered

Yeah, I bet that would have taken it if you offered two top three placings at the start of the day.

true.
funny after, Haussler sounded pissed about second…something about being first loser.

If he says anything other than “I couldn’t hold your wheel, I’m sorry” then he’s lying. Haussler did his job, Thor didn’t, simple as that. Still a good result for Cervelo, though I doubt they’re happy with 2/3 if they feel they were strong enough to win.

Haussler is really impressive.

Sorry to say that is true:) I looked at the finish again, (http://www.youtube.com/) - after about 48 sec Haussler tries to lead Hushovd to the front… he couldn’t hold Hausslers wheel this time.

Thanks so much for that Youtube link. I can’t wait to see an overhead because it appeared that Cavendish made up a half a bike length in the final meter … somehow. An incredible lunge or something? The Youtube is so grainy it’s hard to tell.

I was thinking the same thing. Thor will be pissed that his leadout man didn’t wait for him. Haussler must have been surprised when he looked back and didn’t see Thor on his wheel.

Ken

Things could have been different but Cervelo TestTeam is doing great in his first year. 2nd and 3rd in that race is not bad at all ;).

Sergio

Don’t miss this one. Same finish from another angle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2J77RdhLnqM

So the soloist IS a sprinter’s bike. I have to admit Gerard was right

Sergio

this one has a good overhead shot (~ 3 mins in)
man… that really is incredible… I wonder what his finishing speed was.

i think haussler might be a little pissed he didn’t get the win based on that split second hesitation while realizing thor wasn’t there.
