Mike Reilly “The Voice of Ironman” crashed while riding his bike on Friday. He has a few broken ribs and a punctured lung. Although he did not emcee the welcome dinner, Mike promised he would be on duty for the race Sunday.
Sorry to hear about Mike's crash.Even though I'm not a huge fan, I do wish him well in his recovery and good job for promising to be there tomorrow.Good luck to you Mike down there in CDA.
Sorry to hear about this ironVoice! Great to hear that you are going to tough it on on Sunday punctured lung and all though!! You are definitely part of the whole IronMan experience…
Wow, thats terrible. One of the IM experiences is having Mike say you are an ironman. Hard to believe he could
work the entire race with those injuries. Speedy recovery.
Wow! If anyone could announce with a punctured lung, it’s Mike. Calling over 2,000 people across the line over the course of 17 hours! Heal fast Mike!
Oh, and WTF? KJGrog returning to ST? Is this a special guest appearance?
Thank you everyone for the kind words. It was a scary crash but someone was watching over me because it could be worse. I’ll be getting help tomorrow from Welchie, Ziebart and Paula on the mic. And since I can’t fly for 30 days Welchie and I will be doing a road trip back to San Diego.
Now I’m going to go look at the Cervelo I was riding, guess it didn’t do as well as me and will be put out to pasture. I was told my speedplay pedals survived but I tore the cleat off the bottom of the shoe and it is still in the speedplay.
Wow…glad you are OK enough to type out to ST! Good luck this weekend and best wishes on a speedy recovery! I think the Blazeman was watching out for you.
“I’ll be getting help tomorrow from Welchie, Ziebart and Paula on the mic.”
No deal. We need a distinctive voice. Eastwood ("well do ya, punk?), James Earl Jones ("Luke, you are an Ironman), maybe Don LaFontaine, “In a world where Ironman is king…”) how about Robin Williams?!! You can’t be replaced by just ANYBODY!!!
Hey how about Bob Uecker?

EXCELLENT DECISION.
it’s wonderful to see your post here and have some sort of proof that you’re able to make life happen. blessings to you in your big work day tomorrow, and in the healing process.

Mike, that is crazy shit…the cleat sheered off your shoe and still in the pedal and a punctured lung? I hope you will be able to fly across for Ironman Lake Placid in a month!
