I have just noticed there is a new 1/2 Iron distance race in Montauk, LI. October 3rd. Probably similar to the Mighty Montauk, but twice as long. Might be a bit cold and windy then. Any comments?
Just noticed that as well. Seems to be another EventPower/Tarpanian run race. Sounds like it is, in fact, a double-up of the June Montuak Tri’s bike and run. Yeah, it could be real, real nippy in the morning but should still get warn enough further into the race. Plus, the water won’t be nearly as frigid as it is in early June. If i rcover quickly enough from IMC I’'ll probably give it a try. You?

Naturally, this race wasn’t part of my initial planning, but I will likely do it. I usually like my last race of the season to be a fun sprint, but that’s ok. I actually think the water might be quite cold, though, because it’s in the pond, so the water might be colder than the ocean due to a month or so of colder air… I did the Jones Beach Tri last year (early October) and it was cold and windy and generally quite unpleasant.
