Anyone have any idea how all the rain in the midwest this week is going to effect water flow, quality, etc. at Louisville this weekend? All that water has to go somewhere, and the Ohio River seems like a good candidate…
All of the flooding in MN, WI, IA will hit the Mississippi upstream from the Ohio. No worries about that water.
I don’t think that OH has been getting that much rain (but then I don’t live there so I am not really paying attention either).
Ohio has been getting slammed pretty hard (check it out on CNN); some areas of north central Ohio are having the worst flooding in 25 years…
But southwest Ohio is in severe drought conditions and continures to just get spurts of heavy rain maybe once a week.
Most of the heavy rain in north central Ohio probably went into rivers that drain into Lake Erie, but when I rode along the Scioto this morning it was high, muddy and full of bottles and unfortunately that is heading for Louisville…
My yard is a barren desert - dry as a bone here in Cincy. Hard to believe other parts of the state with flooding issues! 96 degrees today - close to 100 on Sat here and in Lou. So the stuff on CNN is draining no where near the OH river right now
You guys are starting to scare me. Between the high temps (91 forecast for Sunday) and the thought of nasty water, the already-raised anxiety level is reaching new heights ![]()
accuweather has Sunday now at 94, with a “real feel” of 98.
Yikes.
Good luck.
94 will be a welcome sight where in Nashville, we have had 20 consecutive days of 95+ degree weather and 12 days this month of at or above 100.
Agreed, with my last big ride of 100 hillly miles reaching 104 degress with no shade and my lowest temp of the day during the ride was 84…91 degrees might not feel quite as bad. I used to be nervous about a non-wetsuit swim…that anxiety became miniscule compared to staring down a 100 degree race day. At the very least the run should be cool by the time I get out there.

And we all know that the “real feel” refers to someone standing outside. Wonder what the real feel is for someone running a marathon after 112 on the bike.
glad to see the power of positive thinking at work!
Seriously, hope it isn’t too rough out there for all of you…
rod i am going to be down there with a press pass shooting all day, how far is louisville from cincy?
see you there
*glad to see the power of positive thinking at work! *

How about this? I’m *positive *it’s gonna be hot as hell ![]()
about 100 miles - 1.5 to 2 hour drive, depending on traffic
.
The way Rod **drives? More like 1 hour…
LOL! Sad, but true …
Good luck at IM Moo - you seem ready to me! You are going to crush that bike course.
Let me suggest that you take a Bonine over the counter pill for any naseau you might get from the water in the swim. One year at IMWI I yaked about 8 times during 9 hours of that race (I finished) and I swear that it had to do with the water quality in Madison. Next year during practice swims I started to feel the same again, took a Bonine and all was well. Note, I do not suffer from motion sickness, just that the pill helped me deal with polluted water.
How could a motion sickness pill help deal with polluted water???
Oh dear God, don’t jinx me. Hoping 3rd time is the charm.
Good luck this weekend!
