So, this mate of mine helped organise a mid winter tri (sprint). It’s pretty mild here mid winter (in the north anyway), but I agreed to the race although I thought the water would be verrrry cold. So I went out today, nearly the shortest day of the year in the southern hemisphere, and had a tremendous race, it wasn’t too cold at all.
Just magnificent to race again after three months off. Really reminds me why I love the tri life.
Question: how many other slow twitchers can train outside and race year round? I am sitting here feeling like a lucky prick to have this mild climate to train/race in.
Congrats on your race.
The flipside of the question is: how many slowtwitchers are happy to have a ciimate-forced change? Lots of folks here seem to enjoy cross-country skiing and other winter sports.
If you could choose (all other things being equal), would you pick a place that offered year-round training in a moderate climate, or would you prefer a more a more pronounced seasonality?
I like season changes. different sports in the winter. on the other hand, I start to get itchy in late winter.
