Help! I’m going nuts in Massachusetts and looking to head south for some riding on roads not all covered with sand, water, and salt. I’ll be heading down the coast and hope to keep driving time down to less than 10hrs so that puts me in the Richmond, Va area.
Any suggestions on good places or roads to ride? I’m not looking for mountains, just some nice cruising roads to get the legs ready for spring.
Skyline drive should be free of ice since we’ve had a few days in the 60’s and 70’s. Also, look at Maryland’s eastern shore; lots of good safe places to ride. It is flat but if you are looking to dial in your aero position this could be just the place. Also, several nice hotel’s and B&B’s throughout and this should be considered their off season so deals should be in the works.
If you want a good route along the EAstern Shore of Md, use Route 213 instead of Rt 50. Rt 213 starts all the way up in Chesapeake City and goes all the way down to Queenstown.
And, if you want to get to Cambridge, the Eagleman 70.3 course is online at www.tricolubia.org. Board flat and windy, but decent.
