I know the Willow TT is well attended by the triathlete crowd, this year it is held on Saturday April 30th. The following day marks the 6th annual Cone Azalia Classic. A race I dreamed up and love to put on. Anyone with a road bike can participate. It would be great to come watch as well with 5 of the last 6 years the race was won by a Div II or III pro, many of you may have read about Dan Bowman’s exploits on Day 1 of the Tour of Georgia, he’s a Michigan native and I wouldn’t be suprised to see him line up.
Here are some details:

Cone – Azalia Classic Road Race
Race Description:
Once again the first road race on the Michigan Racing Schedule puts riders on an expanded course. Riders will leave Symons Elementary School (the old Milan Middle School) on the corner of Platt Rd and Redman Road. Riders will head south on Platt Road, crossing over railroad after 200 meters, then immediately starting 3 miles of dirt roads. A right turn right on Cone Road, for a couple of miles into what is normally a strong headwind, then they head north on Dennison Rd, picking up a tailwind, finally and turn right on the newly paved Redman Rd, for a two miles to the finish at the new High School just 200 meters from Platt Road. NOTE: We have 3 additional alternative routes, all of which are a mile or two longer, with at least two sections of dirt and a few more turns. Which course we use will be determined by the weather and road conditions on May 1st. .We might also have a start finish loop (s) in a one-kilometer industrial park to spread out larger fields before they hit the dirt. Lots of options this year, all promising an exciting and challenging race with an outcome not decided on who brought the most spare wheels.
There is excellent parking for race participants at registration and at the finish line. Monroe County Police will be on scene to marshal the course and help with traffic control and better on-course spectating than ever.
Entry Information:
Registration is $30 per person. Riders that wish to pre-register may take a $3.00 discount if payment is received before Friday April 25nd. Mail check and Standard Athletes Release to:
