Michellie signs with 2xu

http://triathletemag.com/Page994.aspx

Michellie has gone with Felt and now 2xu. 2xu may be young, but they sure are going for the gold. It is crazy how fast they are growing.

No big surprise here, hometown company (or home country at least). I think there was talk about this a while ago?

I noticed that about a month ago, Lisa Bentley had also switched her wetsuit sponsor to 2XU (from Orca).

Michellie was using a 2xu wetsuit but she wasn’t wearing their tri clothing in Hawaii, right?

yes, Michellie did wear our wetsuit and speedsuit last year, but was under contract with reebok for the rest of her gear. Now she will wear the complete line of 2XU cycling, running and compression gear for training, and will race in our triathlon apparel (custom colors for MJ of course)

the 2XU organization worldwide could not be happier about having such a true professional represent the brand as we continue to grow.

" Michellie did wear our wetsuit and speedsuit last year "

lol
.

am i missing something? i suppose I meant this year…

is she still going to be wearing her pink or something new? Is it top secret for now?

Geez… could they charge more for 2XU gear? Nice stuff… but holy fuck it’s pricey.

I’ve worn the 2XU summr and winter apparel. We like it enough to buy it and sell it.

their winter stuff is kinda pricey but its worth it. its less than Assos but the fit is better.

re: Geez… could they charge more for 2XU gear? Nice stuff… but holy fuck it’s pricey.

are there particular items you are referring to? we feel we are pretty in line with our pricing. (our tri shorts are $55 for 07’) we use only the best materials in all of our garments, meaning they perform better, and last longer. for example, in our tri shorts and tops, we use only Prime Lycra, not regular elastane. this has 400% better chlorine and bacteria resistance as well as excellent stretch memory so it doesn’t lose its shape and firmness. All of the clothing is made with true flat lock mechanical stretch stitching. many companies use a triple stitch method which gives it the flat look, but does not have the same stretch or comfort.
in the winter range, our membrane jacket is amazing. http://2xu.com/uc1058a.html
yes it costs $195, but is stacks up to the Assos jackets that are $400!

please know we are not a pricepoint brand, but once you see the gear and wear the gear, you understand, and can appreciate the value of 2XU.

That’s strange, cos it seems to be about 40% cheaper than Zoot stuff here in NZ…

Winter range doesn’t interest me much… it’s a little hot here for that…
And quoting me prices is a bit meaningless unless you state the currency… is that USA?

The quality of 2XU materials and construction is obvious.
In fact, right now I’m wearing a 2XU Team Australia jacket (no I’m not on Team Australia though). Very, very nice.

I know 2XU is not a pricepoint brand, but the men’s tri singlet I looked at yesterday was MUCH more than I’ve ever seen for a tri singlet.
Even after accounting for included AUS sales tax (10% right?)… it seemed unreasonably high.
Maybe I’m used to the competitive pricing, even on quality goods, in North America?
Or do you price differently for the NA market?

2xu is pretty much the cheapest brand in nz…so I’m guessing pricing is different. All the american brands are much more expensive here.

yes, these are US prices. for an aussie to buy an australian brand from overseas would make it more expensive.
just like Zoot is more expensive in NZ. you are dealing with shipping, duties, quota etc.

in the US:
Zoot Ultra tank= $74.95
Zoot Tri tank= $49.95

2XU Tri tank= $59.95

don’t get me wrong, zoot make great stuff, but it seems like they do a high end tank and a more cost effective one.
again 2XU only do high end…

will you guys be at Wildflower again?

It’s only a matter of time before tri shorts are $100 a pop. There are no “pricepoint” brands in tri clothing, so only expect this segment of the market to increase…

actually with regard to compression shorts - their prices are about average compared with CW-X, Skins, and cheaper than Coreshorts.

Note I soon be in position to provide direct comparions between CW-X, 2xu and Coreshorts compressions shorts

yeah, and I for one will wear whatever is the most comfortable and fits the best whether its +/- 10 dollars. Especially in longer races. I think most would agree
