any word on why she didn’t start? I haven’t heard of any injuries and was looking forward to see how she faired against Wellington.
Sick. She had the flu.
bummer…hopefully she races elsewhere pretty soon.
feel better michellie!
From the Wellington / Oz article on the front page
“The last minute withdrawal of the legendary two-time ITU World Champion and 2006 Ironman Hawaii victor Michellie Jones due to a leg injury removed a vital competitor. But even if healthy, a still-recovering Jones more than likely would not have affected the outcome”.
No leg issue she had the flu
.
what kind of horseshit is that- the flu? I thought she was a professional triathlete? The flu? Come on!
Just in case you didn’t just forget the pink font…
Exercising too strenuously when you have a virus can be very dangerous. It’s been known to cause heart problems. Last year a well known Australian athlete (Lisa Curry Kenny) in her mid 40’s had to have heart surgery because she pushed it to hard while suffering from a virus.
Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I love nothing better than a hard session to try get over a cold or whatever and I’m not saying you shouldn’t race when you’ve got the sniffles but if you’re about to do a 9hr race you’re asking for trouble if you don’t listen to your body.
Wasn’t that the case also with Bruce Thomas?
Mega delay and all to say that I’m not sure sorry.
