Hello esteemed triathletes!
I’m racing the Miami Man 70.3 at the zoo in about a month. Can anyone offer advice for spectators? There will be my wife and two sons (8 & 10) and maybe two senior citizens. They will go to the zoo for part of the race.
My hope is they will be able to arrive later than I do, keep occupied throughout the race, enjoy the zoo and maybe see me at the finish. I plan on taking about 6 hours.
Can anyone offer advice or relate their experiences, especially as they relate to spectator parking, transport and activities especially for the kids.
Thanks a ton!
Your family will have a great time at the zoo. It’s a wonderful zoo. You didn’t mention if you’re from Miami so I don’t know if you’re familiar.
Only a small portion of the run is through the zoo. So they could see you then.
The finish is a Larry and Penny Thompson park which is next to the zoo but not actually connected as far as I know. So they may have to leave the zoo and sort of drive around to get to the finish. I’m not sure about this though - they might be able to walk I’ve just never done it myself.
Parking at the zoo is never an issue
it is the only place in all of Miami that I will ever say that about.
I called race director to ask about spectators with the same question you had. He told me there will be a tram going from the zoo to transition and back to the zoo again throughout the race.
