Anyone have a review of this race? Looking for a late season race
How well organized?
How are the roads, hotel situation, etc???

Did it last year and would do it again. Swim was nice but measured way too long, something I am sure they will fix. The bike course is pretty cool as most of it is on a highway. Not much to see and tons of drafting. The run can be a challenge since there is a bridge you must run over 4 times. You will feel it on the second loop.
Miami in general was a ton of fun and the city is great.
Isn’t the run through a zoo? ðŸ†ðŸ¦ðŸ«ðŸƒðŸ¢ðŸ…
I did it in 2013 and I’d give it a good solid “meh”.
Swim is in a bay but it’s still the ocean so you can get just about anything. I had a few face-fulls of seaweed but overall it was fine. Bike is flat and fast on a highway with nothing to see other than other riders and cars in the lane beside you. Flat and fast also means draft fest. Run is the toughest part for sure with the bridge you have to cross 4 times.
Overall, there was nothing really wrong with it, just nothing special about it. The only reason I did it was we got on a cruise ship the next day - I would consider it again for the same reason.
That’s MiamiMan. Completely different race.
I did the race last year. I had the swim 100 yards long and I had pretty good lines.
The bike course sucks IMO but so does every course in the area. The roads in and out of the city are pretty poor. Drivers don’t listen to the cops. Cops aren’t always paying attention. One cop almost walked right in to me around mile 54-55 as she never looked to see I was coming. October weather in South Florida is a bit unpredictable but one definite is wind. We had a direct head wind for 8 miles on the north section on the highway. As I made the bend to head north, I went from like 24 mph to 20-21 mph. It was nice coming back though. The aid stations on the bike are on your left hand side so make sure your practice grabbing a bottle with your left hand.
I enjoyed the run as it was a cooler day and I had a breakthrough run. Volunteers were awesome on the run. The bridge (hill) isn’t as bad as everyone says it is. If you are trained properly for a 70.3, you will have no problems.
There’s a bunch of hotels pretty close to transition. A lot of them are within a 10 minute walk to transition.
Raced it last year. Going back this year. Swim times were slow last year. Maybe course measurement. Maybe currents. Who knows. Bike is flat and boring, but windy. You could pretty much put your feet up and nap on the way back last year. The first and last few miles you just really need to be aware as it’s downtown and people don’t pay attention. The bridge breaks up there run nicely. It’s a bit of a hill but not terrible. I stayed at the host hotel and walked everywhere the entire weekend. Logistically it is extremely convenient.
Do you know if it is a wetsuit swim or non-wetsuit swim? How was it last year?
I cant remember it ever being a wetsuit legal swim… but with all the hurricanes, the narrative has been “the water is way warmer than normal”
this is a station in biscayne bay, where the swim is… I think its the closest station to the ironman course.

Water temp is currently 86ish
I would plan for a non wetsuit swim. It was also either long or there was a strong current last year as it swam pretty slow.
A friend raced it the year before last and came home peppered in jellyfish stings. Dont know if that was a fluke or a seasonal issue
