According to the participant guide, it should have started an hour ago, but I don’t see any results yet. Anybody know if the race is delayed?
I am over on south beach so a couple of miles from the start and its raining fairly hard here I wouldnt be surprised if it was delayed
.
Thanks. Looking at radar, they may catch a break. They’re right on the edges of a blob of rain that seems to be moving offshore.
How is it that we have a race without an STer on site with live updates and photos? Who’s in charge of the schedule?
2995 participants, is that right?

I noticed that also. Supposedly the race had a limit of 2500 participants.
Apparently the computer processig the results has dried out. A whole bunch of swim results just came in.
My friend is racing today, and I thought she mentioned that if anyone wanted to wear a wetsuit and not be eligible for awards that they would not start in their normal waves, but at the end instead. Does that sound right?

Yes. That’s a common practice in races where the water temp. is above the wetsuit “racing” limit but below the “wearing” limit. If you want to wear your wetsuit, you start in your own wave after everyone else.

Bullshit!

What are you saying? When I did Miami last year, the race was not wetsuit legal for those competing for AG spots. However, it was cold enough not to mandate no wetsuits.
So, they put all those particiants who still wanted to wear wetsuits in their own wave. This allowed the organizers to maintain the integrity of the timing system.
Edit: since 70.3 races have wave starts already, it is easier for them to simply add a wave. Full distance races with a mass start, and a hard cutoff, have a harder time adjusting to the wetsuit limits.
They mixed wetsuit and non-wetsuit folks at those two races, which caused all kinds of consternation and bitching.
I was also being sarcastic.
Still no swim results for a large number of participants at Miami today. It looked like they started an hour or so late. Even if all the wetsuiters went after the last wave they should be done by now. Is anyone on site with updates? Did they shut the swim down for weather?
Who beat Raelert? I saw he made up time on the run to get 2nd.
where are the results? IM tracking is not working well…again…
I just tracked Raelert. No results posted.
- Sebastian Wienle (3:47:01) 2. Raelert (3:48:01) 3. Reed (3:49:37) - Wienle rode 5’ faster than everyone.
The results are there. Kienle won, exactly one minute ahead of Raelert. Matt Reed #3.

Seems Raelert was pretty upset with how he raced. His FB status, it said he gave up mentally on the swim and was looking for excuses not to finish
I wish I could give up mentally on the swim and finish 2nd as a pro!
went in miami to watch the race and couldnt find a parking space anywhere, all the multi storey parks where closed. So disgusted I turned back and went back to sobe. Miami is missing a trick or two in showing off the city, its a ghost town on a sunday
Everyone down there is partying til 6am, the zombies wont make an appearance til 4pm.
