Mexico Half Im

Anyone done this race? Opinions welcome.

I have done this race twice. It is one of the best races I have ever done in my life. It is not easy by any means but the atmosphere is fantastic and the race organizers are great. It is a low key race so don’t expect it to be the same as a US race but again very good fun. I am taking the family down for the race and a 2 week vacation this year.

I was looking to do the same thing. End the season w/ a good race and then go straight into vacation.

The website could use a makeover, or add some more info, possibly full results from past years maybe. It looks like a challenging course, and could be very hot still in Nov. That would be the hardest part being from Missouri, where it will be down in the 50-40’s already.

It looks like you guys fried down there in '01 by the run times.

Did you stay in the Camino Real hotel? If so, is this a resort type location? It looks to be similar to Puerto Valarta or Cancun (minus the drunk co-eds). Looks like a nice place, close to the airport.

Hey, how’s it going?
I hope you guys put the hammer down on Rhodsey. He says it’s great up there.

Aren’t you supposed to be riding your bike really fast across these United States right about now?

By the way, I’ll second what Kerry said. Great way to end the season, if you also include sphincter-busting climbs and heat stroke in your definition of “great”.

I do, anyway.

Road bike or tri bike course? I saw there were no discs allowed b/c of wind. So heat, wind, hills, sounds like St.Croix?

Of course you have some good tequila drinking on the beach afterwards to look forwards too!

Bobo I cracked a rib at Richmond and had to forgo riding across america. It is somewhat resorty (is that a word?) but it is small and quiet compared to others in mexico. We stayed at the Barcelo one year and a small mom and pop hotel the other. Both were good. It will be very hot so be prepared. Just turn on the heater and ride the trainer in a small room in your house. Always a good after awards party. Just ask Bobo and the tall mexican ladies.

I have ridden a road bike with clip ons and that is what I would recommend. There really has not been a lot of wind that I can remember. I have ridden a pair of Hed Alps both years and that is probably the ticket. Good tequila, dancing and unreal cheap seafood.
