Medicare question?

My mother is retired and lives in Oregon. She recently beagn receiving Medicare benefits which she uses to get her perscription drugs. She is not in the best of health and requires a lot of medications. Medicare does not cover everything so my brothers and I pick up the rest. I saw an article where Medicare is going to be paying $2 billion over the next decade for drugs like Cialis, and Viagra. What gives with that? I am confused then on what Medicare supposed to do? Exactly what drugs should the government be paying for? What other billions in recreational drugs are we going to have to cover? It just does not make sense to me.

You would actually expect your own mother to have to pay to get the benefits of Viagra? I hope she has no idea what kind of a son she raised.

To think all this time I thought you were a decent human being. Viagra is an entitlement.

News flash: The year is 2005.

Personally, I am really glad that a prescription drug benefit, expected to cost maybe a trillion dollars, has been added on to our essentially bankrupt Medicare program.

Careful Art you may get accused of being insensitive and mean wanting to kill all those old people with no health insurance.

I would only be accused of such things by the likes of people that would force their own mother to choose between dogfood and the benefits of Viagra.

Free Viagra to the masses. Isn’t that what we wanted when we elected a Republican Congress and President who ran on a platform of a smaller federal government in 1994?

Bingo:

Blame those who allowed it to happen in Congress.

And then doubley blame those of us who let our Congressmen do so.

Old people vote, and they evidently vote for Viagra. I guess their view is that it is a quality of life issue, I don’t agree, but I would imagine that would be one of their claims.
