What is the best way to travel to Scottsdale Arizona from San Jose? Preferably flights but the person needs as little flight time as possible (we may be driving her). The end location is a medical institude at:
8888 E. Raintree Drive
Suite 170
Scottsdale, Arizona 85260
Having done that drive a few times for IMAZ, I can tell you its a brutal drive. We always did it non-stop and it would take about 14-17 hours. If its medical transport, I’d completely discourage it.
I’d explore your flight options…you might have better luck out of Oakland or SFO.
Without knowing details, I’d suggest a charter from CA to AZ. A smaller regional airport would probably have corporate lear jets for hire. Again, not knowing anything or what budget you’re looking at. Might also want to check into what is afflicting this individual to see if there is an organization that can help offset the price of a ‘mercy flight’. Best of luck…
If you are contemplating a private medical transport flight of some sort, please note that the address you provided is about a mile or so from the runway at the Scottsdale Airport. The airport does not have commercial passenger service, but perhaps what you are looking for is available.
My dad and uncles pitched in together and chartered an air ambulance to move my grandfather a couple years ago. IIRC, it was about $5K to go from Fla to Michigan. I know some companies allow passengers on thier corporate jets for “angel fights” but I’m not sure how you hook up with one of those. Sometimes insurance will cover part of the cost too so its worth checking.
FWIW - you can buy special insurance for air evactuation and its not too expensive. For the young and restless, its worth thinking about in some situations. My daughter is going to Europe to study next year and I’m seriously considering buying a policy for about $200 that will fly her home if she gets seriously sick or injured. There are cheaper, shorter term policies that might not be a bad idea for folks traveling long distances for races where injury is a possiblity if air transport is not covered by your regular insurance.
Southwest flies nonstop from SJC to PHX in 1:50, from PHX it’s a 20 mile cab ride to your destination, 13 miles of it freeway, so should pretty quick in light traffic.
