Medical question- No, it's not about a rash

I am going in for a physical tomorrow and having my blood work done. As an endurance athlete and training for IMFL are there tests or things I should have my doctor look for? I mean mineral deficiencies, etc?

Thanks for the help,

Ed

Have them run a hemocrit just so you know your score
.

The main things would be cbc glucose na K bun creat chol and if 40+ psa and anything that would be ralated to any symptoms you may have if any or any concerns. Some of this or any added tests could be guided by family history etc.

Ed,

I’m not a doctor nor I play one on slowtwitch, but I do have some experience with athlete’s blood test.

There are many markers that are important depending on your age and level of training and your doctor should be the one to decide. Among them, iron, ferritin, cortisol, CPK , LDH, besides a complete hemogram of course. From those, iron and ferritin levels are something important to monitor.

Also remember that one blood test doesn’t say much, if possible do one every 8-10 weeks and monitor the progression of the marker analyzed. Also try to schedule those tests at the end of a recovery week, never after a race.
