Ow!!!
Been there; she’ll look like hell and recover fine in a while. Poor thing.
Good looking Vet office…
Poor sweetie. A puff like that on my Jack Russell would be wild. I hope the recovery will be quick.
Good looking dog. Amazing, isn’t it, how they just don’t complain…
Hoping for a speedy recovery!
I live in rattlesnake land, what are they doing for her? Did she ever take rattlesnake shots? Dogs are pretty amazing creatures for sure. All the best.
and to think i relied on your wife to tell me this.
You should live some place colder, where snakes dont live.
Heal up pup!!! ![]()
Where is that the polar ice cap, rattlers are in snow country and catus also.
Sending healing vibes from my yellow labs to you. That is my biggest worry when I trail run with them, the snakes have come out in large numbers already here in our regional parks. I have seen three rattlers already this season. I keep the doggie ER on speed dial on my cell phone so they can prep the antivenom while en route. A good friend lost her dog to a bite last year because it took over 45 minutes to get to the trail head and down to the ER vet.
I don’t know what you’ve got there in Texas, but in So Cal there are dog trainers that do rattlesnake avoidance training. They put a shock collar on the dog and expose it to the smell, sight, and sound of a rattler, with the snake’s mouth taped shut. When the dog goes near the snake, it gets a light shock. I’ve done it once with my dogs; it’s the only time I would consider using a shock collar. They say you need to do it every year for at least a few years to make sure the dog has a lasting understanding. I can’t vouch for its effectiveness as we haven’t come upon a snake since doing the training, but the trainer we work with strongly recommends it (he’s not the one doing the snake training, so his recommendation isn’t purely for profit).
poor dog, hope she heals up quick!!! im sort of surprised she didnt die, people die here where I live normally from rattlesnake bites.
.
Goodness, what a sad start to the day. On the up side, remembering a time when their dog was bit by a rattlesnake, my parents’ vet said that on the nose was the “best” place for a dog to get bit. Best wishes to Sadie for a speedy recovery.
I’ve heard dogs actually respond better to rattlesnake bites than humans. The breeder we got our dogs from lives out in the booneys and one of her young puppies was bit. It’s head swelled up 3-4 times normal size, but was fine within a week or two.
I’m sending prayers and I’ll have Lucy the Bichon put her little paws together too…
Poor pup! Having just paid a visit to the emergency vet because my lab decided to eat something mysterious in the parking lot that got him all jacked up, I feel your pain. Here’s to a speedy recovery.

Poor pup…
My Mojo stuck his nose where it didn’t belong. $600 and 12 weeks of antibiotic therapy later, he has finally healed.
BTW, he’s cute all swelled up like that.

From one lab owner to another - the dog insurance I have had on my pups for the past 9 years has paid for itself at least twice over. One hit by a car and the other had cancer. Both still alive and kicking after all these years and eating of weird shit!
Poor thing. Was she on a leash?
Oh sweet Sadie! Speedy recovery!
How’s the pup tonight? Doing well I hope.
Awwww man that sucks, I hope she is doing well, here’s to a speedy recovery pretty girl. God how can you look into those eyes an not love her.
