Maybe these power cranks do work

Purchased power cranks in late june promptly have surgery in late july (menisectomy and chondroplasty) Doc let me back at doc cleared me for ridingon the trainer in late august, it has been brutal riding on those things, no endurance etc. At any rate insurance now wants to cut off the PT so they tell me yesterday that they will be giving me a Cybex test to get some objective numbers on my leg strength (involved v. uninvovled) so I tell the therapist look I am no dummy I will tank this test and then I can keep coming for a while longer, he says no worry, everybody has approx a 10-15% difference anyhow so dont worry just go at it hard, as the numbers will be there anyhow to justify more therapy.

The results are that I have a 3% diff in power and a 6% diff in endurance. the therapist said it was the best result he had ever seen. the upshot is I am probably out of there unless I want to go out of pocket for the sessions and I was just starting to chat up this smoking lacrosse coach from the local college. Thanks a lot Frank!

I would quickly fake a back injury so you can continue with therapy and working the lacrosse coach…

Do you think your results are from the use of the powercranks or just the fact that your spending alot of time on the trainer??? I had ACL reconstruction in june and am in the market for a set of cranks for a TT bike i’m building…just looking for an honest opinion to justify the cost to myself…

I just got my PC’s a week ago and am enjoying them. So far, I look at it this way. I read you should do one legged drills. I read you need to focus on spinning smoothly. But, I never seemed to find the time to do the above drills. But, with the PC’s, I am forced to do both at the same time, with both legs at the same time, during my entire trainer riding. So, it does not matter if I am riding more or not, because when I do ride, I am getting everything that I need at one time without having to waste time on special drills. And my time is worth much more than the money!!

I belive that the nature of the cranks is respnsible for the equality in strength in that the involved leg had to “carry its own weight” instead of getting a free ride

and my back is feeling a little stiff these days good idea
