Maybe these people should pray *before* they do anything?

Elizabeth Lauten, the congressional staff member who posted critical comments of Sasha and Malia Obama on her Facebook page late last week, has resigned.
Ms. Lauten, who was the communications director for Representative Stephen Fincher, Republican of Tennessee, posted the derogatory comments after the Obama daughters appeared with their father at the annual turkey pardoning on Wednesday. The daughters looked less than thrilled to be at the ceremony.
In the post, Ms. Lauten told the girls to “dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar.”
“Dear Sasha and Malia, I get you’re both in those awful teen years, but you’re a part of the First Family, try showing a little class,” Ms. Lauten wrote.
The Facebook rant went viral and provoked a storm of criticism. Ms. Lauten quickly posted an apology on Friday, saying, “After many hours of prayer, talking to my parents, and re-reading my words online, I can see more clearly just how hurtful my words were.” She later made a majority of her Facebook profile private.

My first thought when I saw the video on the news was, those girls look bored.

why on earth would anyone in a public or even semi-public position ever use social media. Stupid as stupid does.

“these people”
.

Well at least she didn’t break out the old “the devil made me do it” excuse.

My favorite part is that she is was a communications director. She may want to leave that job off her resume.

I had heard a little on this so just went and looked at the pics…did I miss something? Are there other pictures out there or are these comments about the ones where the girls are wearing sweaters and skirts?

Maybe I’m a little off about “Class” and such but what I saw seemed pretty normal to me, especially for young girls. Where they supposed to wear evening gowns or something?

Either I’m missing something or this is just another angry political hack looking to be pissed about something…since she resigned I’m guessing the latter.

I think you’re right. My guess is her comments were a calculated attempt to stir up a phony controversy. Major fail.

“these people”

Yes, “these people.” The ones who need to pray to determine what behavior to follow.

No. But you can be outraged, too.

What is the protocol for proper dress at a turkey pardoning?

Among the many reasons I could never be a high ranking public official is this kind of nonsense.

Or consult her parents. She’s what, fifty something?

I’m convinced the majority of these social media fails are alcohol related. It’s far less damaging to claim momentary lapse in judgment than to admit they were half crocked.

Don’t you have any crazy relatives? I have certain relatives I would expect similar comments about my kids, dress, actions, behavior, my dress, car etc etc etc. I think it’s just “I’m ANGRY and I’m MAD AT EVERYONE…YOU ALL SUCK”. I Also tend to see a general trend that these people are finding homes in political commentary positions. Not sure if it’s a chicken or the egg thing, where they always angry and this jobs suits them or did the position make them angry?

When I went looking for the pictures I was expecting something “Racy”, low cut blouse, lots of makeup…Victory Secret winds or something. That’s why I asked if I had the right pictures, Teenage girls in skirts and sweaters are hardly “Looking for a place at the bar”.

People are idiots.

31, surprisingly.

At least the first daughters weren’t shoplifting…

I thought it was funny that she said something along the lines of, “The Bush girls would never dress in skirts that short.”

The Bush girls who had multiple alcohol related items during Pres Bush’s administrations.

how could she forget jenna bush? nsfw

agreed; i was expecting the skirts/blouses to be at least a little racey but they look like normal teenagers. In fact, they’re wearing more clothes than the majority of teenaged girls I see running around our town. This is the kind of stuff that needs to happen to get “These People” ( I mean stupid people) out of positions they don;t deserve or belong in. Darwinism of the work force.

This is the third example, today, of stupid social media postings. So yea, anything to delay the clicking of the send button is good for users of social media.

Geez, what type of puritanical uptight stick in the mud places do you people work at where hardcore pornographic advertisements and good old healthy beaver shots are not safe viewing material?
