In minimalist shoes, your foot has to do the work, because the shoe has little or no cushioning.
Right, the a thesis would be that your body will compensate to “equalize” forces depending on cushioning. E.g. rather than seeking to minimize force the body/mind goal-seeks to a reasonably constant impact force regardless of shoe. So there’s no shoe that would “reduce” force under that theory.
In theory a runner could run with a “minimalist style” using cushiony shoes, however…
