I’ve never had a problem and from what I’ve read on ST at your weight you can pretty much always benefit from a disk, faster the wind, more the benefit. The most wind I’ve raced in was IMAZ (April 08) and it was 25mph gusts (according to the weather report) and I used an 808/Disk with no problem at all.
Again at your weight (I’m 165-170) you’re probably strong enough to hold an 808 in any wind condition you would encounter, except maybe Kona…
On a windy day, the 404 in the front will give you problems long before the disc in the back will. Go with the disc. I used to train on a spoked wheel with CH covers with no handling problems (I’m 180).
Its all relative… I find the only time a disc is a liability is when the wind is FAST and Gusty. Also don’t forget that a disc acts as a sail when you have a relative tailwind.
