Has someone had the same experience-after a flat tyre during a tt, the comete disk got out of true by 2.5mm in other words it doesn’t spin in my frame anymore and I will have to change it :-(.???
No one?
did it crack?
did it crack?
No it didn’t crack (has an alloy braking surface), it simply doesn’t run true anymore. The hit is 2.5mm (1 inch), which is enough to touch the rear cutout of the frame. I didn’t know that a Mavic Comete disc can go untrue.
So either it can be straightened out somehow or I can’t use it any more. Anyone has an idea how to proceed from here? I couldn’t find any contact email address on Mavics homepage which is very odd so maybe someone has it for me?
Thanks for all the infos.
I’ve got a Comete tub and used it without issues for years. It’s highly unlikely that the wheel has changed following a puncture. From your description it seems as though the total circumerfence of the wheel/tire combo has altered. Has the tire been mounted incorrectly, or is there a noticeable bulge in the circumference? Is the tire the same size, as difference sizes, 19 or 23 for example, will have different wall heights?

You’re right, that there should be no bulge in the wheel after a puncture after all that’s what happens rather often.
I ckecked the disc again and saw that where the bulge is the carbon sidewall has detached fron the alloy rim-bed (clincher). I’ve put the same tyre on again so the tyre is ok it really is the wheel.
Any one knows how to contact the manufacturer in France-since I live in Switzerland that would be the simplest?
