I am staying at the Holiday Inn in Allen Park and looking for a Masters W/O tonight anyone know of one. I am willing to travel a bit if needed. I thought I heard of one at EMU.
Thanks in advance

There’s a masters group that swims in Ann Arbor in the evenings. 630pm at Fuller park (0.5 - 0.75 hour away from you depending on traffic.)
50m outdoor pool.
$5 non-resident admission into the pool.
No coach on deck tonight. It’s a written workout.
Where is Fuller Park?
Will you be there?
I have a buddy i was going to meet up with in Ann Arbor anyhow later tonight.
I put a link to a map in my original post. If that doesn’t work just google “fuller park ann arbor”.
I won’t be there tonight. Sorry. I generally do the AM workouts and have an appointment to do some ditch digging tonight anyway.
Hope you enjoy your visit.
Thanks, one last question.
Is there usually a pretty good group and how fast?
eh,
On nights when there’s no coach on deck, the attendance can be small (1 swimmer per lane). I’ve only done a handful of evening workouts this summer so I can’t tell you with any certainty. There is usually a group of hardcore swimmers who swim every evening though.
There are 8 lanes. The fastest lane swims a 1:15/100m clip, i think. Needless to say I don’t swim in that lane.
If you’ve never done a workout in a 50m pool before it can be somewhat of a shock. I’ve gotten more gassed from a 3k workout in this pool than I have from most 4k workouts in SCY pools. You have been warned.
If the workout isn’t your cup of tea, there’s always the waterslide.
Enjoy.
Thanks again, I think I might try it.
I have done my share of swimming (hence the name) in all sorts of pools. My problem is that I have had two surgeries in the last 8 months and I just got out of a cast on Friday so I am fat and out of shape so I don’t want to get in over my head. I should be able to handle the 1:20-1:25/100M pace if there is one.
Thnaks again!

Well Marty I must thank you for suggesting the thorough ass whipping I received last night! I swam with Emily, David and Evan who each proceeded to put a serious smack down on me. I lasted about 3500M meters before I threw in the towel and said no mas! My arms were lead weights by then, and I awoke this morning to some seriously sore lats, tri’s and shoulders.
Yesterday was my second work out of any type in many months as I Just got out of a cast from a surgery one week ago today, so my fitness is not there- AT ALL. What was there was my fat gut, as your teammates will tell you and it did not help my swimming. My lack of fitness and the fact that I have not swam long course in at least 10 years added to my early demise.
I plan on coming back next time I am in the area as the group was fast friendly and the work outs looked great (felt like shit). Hopefully next time I will be in much better shape and have lost some weight!
Thanks again,
Tim
No problem. Glad you had “fun”.
I personally made extensive use of the waterslide this morning. It’s more fun when you don’t have to wait in line with 5 year olds. That and there’s no lifeguard to give you funny looks.
Y’all come back soon now ya hear!
Yeh i had no energy for the water slide. I left that in Emilies and Davids Wake.
