Masters Spoiler

Rory freakin McIlroy! anyone watching this kid? you bet your ass Tiger is, coming up fast in his rearview mirror.

Until you jinxed him!

Double on 16 and triple on 18 takes him out of it. He’s talented for sure but looks like the kid still has a lot to learn about damage control.

How about that guy who has 10 birdies in the second round?

Check that: Anthony Kim finished with 11 birdies (and two bogies and a double bogey) today.

remember, there have been a lot of players to come up fast in Tiger’s rear view mirror. None have stayed there though, time will tell, he may be good or just fade away like the others have.

JJ

Is Anthony Kim the latest product of the Korean Golf Factory ? I know that the Korean ladies have dominated the LPGA for years now, but I do not know very much about the PGA side of the situation.

First break-dancing and Ping-pong, now Golf…Is there anything that Koreans (or Korean-Americans) cannot excel at ?

Bit of a bad boy from LA, went to OK state I think, had a fall out with the coach I think, he has a temper on him as well by all accounts and a very pushy father…

No, he is American.

It’s odd that you know the LPGA but not the PGA, I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone who said that  The Koreans do have the highest representation on the LPGA but in terms of consistent winnings, they have a long way to go before they match Annika Sorrenstam or even Lorena Ochoa. They seem to produce a lot of 1-hit wonders.

I wouldn’t call men’s golf something they excel at with only 2 ever winning on the PGA tour (K.J. Choi and Wang who just won a few weeks ago). I really don’t think of Koreans as world dominating athletes but they do well at some sports in the Olympics.

thx for the info…I know about the LPGA indirectly, as we have a cousin who is trying to get into the upper tier of the LPGA tournaments. By her assessment, there are a lot of Korean ladies coming over to try to emulate the success of their predecessors. There doesn’t seem to be the same level of play or intensity coming out of the American “minor leagues” (usually college players).

Golf has become huge in Korea, and the driving ranges are packed with parents trying to get their kids going early in the sport. It may be for the moment that the Korean ladies are a few years ahead of their male counterparts.

I tend to watch the PGA “Slam” tours on Tv, and love watching the Masters.
