If anyone’s going to be in town for Ironman Nice, here is the contact information for an excellent English-speaking masseur. His name’s Rich Huggins and he’s the only decent sports masseur I’ve met in the region in four years. Rich works with pro cyclists Axel Merckx, Baden Cooke, Bradley McGee and also Moto GP rider Troy Baylisse.
Looking forward to seeing you down there in a couple of weeks… dusted off the P2K and took it for the first spin of the year in the Ardeche yesterday, felt like I was catching up with an old friend. Surprised myself and got up a few nasty inclines… if we go for a short ride down in Nice I might even be able to keep up for a while.
I headed out with the club to Mt. Ventoux on Saturday, where the lads managed second in the team standings for the Tour de Provence. Me, I did my thing to get ready for the Étape and did a double ascent of Mt. Ventoux Saturday afternoon, then rode home from Sault to Opio on Sunday, 240k and 3100m of climbing through endless acres of poppies, row upon row of lavender waiting to blossom, the gorge du Verdon, and so on . . . 8 hours past scenery so idyllic it makes you weep.
Did you do both approaches ? I assume you did at least one starting from Bedoin… and the descent back down to Bedoin on the new smooth road surface has to be one of the best descents in France in terms of the adrenalin rush.
Okay, I’m prepared to go UP, just not UP and LONG at the same time… since this little Camel has 60km in his legs this year, all of it done yesterday. At least it had of bit of climbing on some little hidden roads… FANTASTIC.

You know it didn’t happen unless we can see photos…
