Marko rings his bell

Sunday was the 3rd cross race of the season, and without a doubt, and hour of cross is pure hell. It’s been so hard to try and adapt to an hour of max HR. So I was entering a sandy left hander and thought I’d do it wide open. The bike was in a nice slide and I thought I was actually going to make it for a second. It hooked up after the patch and highsided me like a GP motorbike. I cracked my Pnuemo and have a bruised shoulder and hip. My noggin has a big bruise from the helmet and I have a very slight headache this morning. Anyone else find it hard to transition to cross?

yesterday i was in mile 50 of a 60 mile ride … was only planning on doing about 40 so my nutrition “plan” was insufficient … anyway, my attention wandered while i was in the aero bars and i managed to veer down a 3in asphalt edge into some gravel that filled the 18 inches between the asphalt and a split rail fence.

it didn’t end well.

my helmet wasn’t needed as i rolled without my head ever touching the ground, but i landed square on my shoulder and have some various other scrapes.

what i’m saying is this “i feel your pain” and “i clearly do not have the offroad skills for cross”!

Actually you seem to have one of the most important skills. The ability to fall without serious injury. Some people manage to break something just watching a crash, other walk away after some pretty spectacular tumbles ;).

thanks for the “glass is half full” reset … i was trying for something along the lines of “chicks dig scars,” but “chicks dig abrasions” didn’t seem to be as cool!
