Marin County Rides

My Bride and I will be renting Road Bikes for this Saturday in San Francisco - and we want to ride over the Bridge into Marin County - we would like to do a fairly short ride - about 60 miles - so, locals, and must do routes please?

Thanks

Only been there once, but the stretch of Ridgecrest from the top of the climb up from Alpine Lake towards Mt Tam and then the descent down into Stinson beach was probably the most scenic stretch of road I’ve ever ridden
.

Only one ride, that’s tough! I always prefer climbing Mt. Tam from Hwy 1 but you could also go at this backwards.

Alternative route would be to not turn right on Panoramic and stay on 1, but I always enjoyed that climb and descending down into Stinson is pretty fun.

Alpine Dam and Seven Sisters Amazing views all around.

Thanks to everyone who suggested some routes - unfortunately plans have changed and will not be in SF this week - but just in case anyone is thinking about renting good bikes - the place we found was Blazing Saddles (great name eh). Lot of good high end Road Bikes for rent.

Thanks again

That’s a shame. I did the MT Tam double century this past summer and it was amazing. This was my first time riding in Marin County and I fell in love with it. Coming from relative flat-landria, Mt Tam of course kicked my ass.

You see tons of their cruiser type bikes along Chrissy Field and Ft Point. If it makes you feel any better it is raining here today and suppose to rain a bit early Sat morning.

The Tam Double is a pretty awesome ride. I’ve done it the last few years. Have you looked into the Terrible Two’s (starts in Santa Rosa). It’s a little tougher with the climbing but you hit a lot of wine country and then cruise back down the coast along Hwy 1.
