Marbella 2026 70.3

Does anyone know if there will be a Marbella 2026 70.3 and if so will it be back in May?

Historically, the main Marbella 70.3 event has typically been held in the spring (E.g May), while the 2025 world championship is a special fall event. The 2026 date could return to the spring schedule, I have high hopes for this and you might not be far from being correct.

I’m getting a feeling there won’t be a Marbella 2026 70.3.

Its too late to announce a May date now and if a October event it should be open already.

The Ironman page is different from previous years, where it would be ‘coming soon’ instead it’s ‘Thank you for your interest in IRONMAN 70.3 Marbella! This website is currently unavailable.’

I’d almost wonder if IM learned it’s lesson that oversaturing a community with races in a short period of time creates problems down the road.

I think they just had the 70.3 worlds in place of the fall 70.3 they had in 2024? So the only extra was the hoopla and congestion of worlds (and money)

yeah - it wasnt an extra race, just the same event but ‘bigger’

Sort of surprised, as by all accounts it pulled in loads of money for the locals, from hotels, to restruants and taxi’s etc.. as it was at the very end of the season it would have been a nice extra income that the area wouldnt have had.

But maybe the contract was until 2025 and that was it for Marbella… no more. which is super annoying as its only 30mins up the road

I hadn’t realized that. The other thought is that the course is just too hard or that they want to give it a break for a year since they just had 4000+ of their best frequent customers there. That seems too strategic thinking instead of take the money while you can, so city negotiation is probably the most likely I guess?

Here is the link:

So this replaces a 70.3 in Malaga in 2026 or compliments it (which I doubt). Too bad about the flat bike. That Marbella worlds course was pretty darn EPIC

Here is the Slowtwitch Newswire link:

This replaces a 70.3 in Marbella in 2026:
“After successfully hosting six editions since 2018, the IRONMAN 70.3 Marbella event will not be returning in 2026, with IRONMAN 70.3 Málaga taking [its] place to officially close the Spanish race season.”
