Marathon Spoiler

What a great race, I can not believe that Nagouchi held them all off and Kastors race was brilliant, she just picked them off from 20th to 3rd in the second half, a blinding marathon…

Agreed, That was incredible!

I can not explain how F**king mad I am about this, be interesting to know what PR’s problem was, I suspect it was the heat but we will see…

I was surprised that she dropped out, I think that she pushed too hard. We can only wonder if it would have worked out better if she wouldn’t have had all of the pressure leading up to the race. She stayed in front for too long maybe?

I don’t see why you would be mad. This is the Olympic Marathon on a tough course in blistering weather. It is a very unforgiving and cruel race. It beat her. No disgrace in that.

I loved watching that race. Good coverage. Live. Wonderful race by the American. Very inspiring. That is how I would like to run an IM, but, somehow, I don’t think my 3:00 second half marathons are going to get the job done.

not mad with her, I think she was on a hiding to nothing, I picked her to win but knew she’d either handle the heat or not be in it and there was no way of knowing. Looks like the heat got the better of her.

I do not think she should run the 10, a bad result there and it could really mess her up, she should go home and think about Chicago or London and put it behind her.

This race was indeed amazing, with all the lead changes and the winnowing of the pack. The ultimate in real life drama and the best women’s race I have ever seen (of course here in the States, Boston is the only race they ever broadcast, it seems like) … Deena’s strength and strategy were amazing, as was the winner and Catherine the Great: What’s her tally, anyway? I am guessing top 3 in nearly dozen marathons? Paula’s still incredible, whatever she does: My guess is she knows here physical limits as well as any human being, which is why she cruised to her world records and dropped out of this course. This course was very hilly, too: very different from London or Chicago. The men’s race will be fascinating, I think it could be downright crazy with the heat and the hills
