Boston is Monday, wx is looking like 55-60deg, have a feeling it will be a warm one. Unfortunatley warm weather is just getting to NE, most of our winter has been pretty cold and very unlike what we will probably get Marathon Monday. It wasn’t easy to test stuff out on long hot training runs. I may take a chance and do the 5k test to see how many fluids I need to take, but curious how you actually use that info in a marathon where you don’t have all that much control of when and how much?
Is there a way to figure out how much goo to take?
Gu at 5,10,15,20,23 is what I did last month. I think it depends on how long you plan to be out there and what you ate for breakfast. I ate a hearty breakfast 2-3 hours before the event.
Well, Lance Armstrong ate some obscene amount of GUs in his first marathon. Like 40 of them or something. So then I decided he was onto something and I should eat way more GU than I could ever need. That’s how I qualified for Boston. I think I was eating them every 3 miles or something, and then taking gatorade or water according to some system that I don’t remember. I liked it, because I felt great the whole way. So, my recommendation would be to eat and drink as much as your stomach can handle.
