Marathon IAAF Worlds in Osaka on NBC Now!

Women’s marathon on now - Go Ann Alyanak! Ed, I know you are glued to your T.V. right now  Your HFP pals all did great down at IML and should do well up at IMMoo too!

Too bad it’s not live…

Ed - must have been tough conditions out there! Top American runner for Ann! Congrats! I know you must be super excited.

All I have on the NBC feed north of the 49th is GOLF!

My major network viewing choices here in Cleveland are IndyCar racing, Tennis and Golf. Apparently someone thought the residents of this great city were getting behind on their sleep…

Thanks for the interest! I watched the NBC coverage but also the live feed last night. Ann ran well and said she felt very good. She ran 1:21:44 / 1:20:39 so that is another “-” split out of a similar marathon cycle. We figured she could run 2:42 in 85 degree heat and 70-80% humidity and she ran 2:42:23 so that is close! Dry and 40 degrees we figured 2:34 was her fitness level. The conditions were quite hard more so at the end when the sun came out. She said the last 10k was hot, but also the Japanese are amazing in terms of crowd support. She told her self when she went into the stadium that she wants to do it again next year. No pressure on the coach … I have some ideas to try and get a fast marathon in April. We basically need to double her 1/2 PR. Possible yes, but not easy. We are quite excited.

The HFP boys did well. It was fun to follow them. I’m excited for IMWI, for the HFP guys and a guy I coach who went 13:30 in 2005. I think he can do well. The coaching is really starting to become a second job, but I do it all for free!

Ann will take 3 weeks off and finish up the break with the Toyota challenge sprint tri or du. She can swim but is has been awhile. Then it is down to business again.

Nice job to you at IMKY. I wish I could run a sub 4 hour marathon in those things! That swim into a current to start could not have been easy either.

Ed Alyanak

Thanks for the info! Great split then since it did look a lot hotter later in the game. Sounds like she ran a perfect race for her. I can commiserate running a marathon when it is hot and humid now after IML last weekend

I’ll probably do one of the shorter versions up at Deer Creek as well - see 'ya there!
