Marathon hell

haven’t posted in a while.

did a marathon on a rolling course on november 1 in east arkansas. terrible day, as the temperature soared. runners were dropping left and right, including me. after an embarrasing need to hit the portable toilet at mile 10, both legs seized on me at mile 15. too bad as i was hoping to use this run as my boston qualifier, but no dice.

all i could do was walk, then perhaps jog for 100 yards or so till i cramped up again. it was miserable. i limped across the line in 5 hours, well over the 3:20 i needed.

shit.

But you did finish and survived a tough day. Congrats. You have my sympathy.

This is the time you have to stay mentally strong. I’ve known a few runners who had bad marathon experiences and were out of the game for many months just due to the mental baggage. Change it up, don’t keep running each day with that negative marathon experience in your mind, it can drag you down over time. Maybe you are past it, just throwing out the warning.

Stay strong
