I have noticed the posts on the marathon after a full IM, any advice/insight on recovery time after a 1/2 IM? I have a 1/2 IM this weekend (9/10) and a marathon on 10/9 (Chicago).
According to the marathon schedule I am following, I am supposed to do a long 20 mile training run the weekend of 9/17-18 and then taper.
My old roommate did Ralph’s 1/2 IM this spring. Finished 10th in her age group. Then, the following weekend, she did the Tri-States Marathon and finsihed second overall for women by 30 seconds. She PR’d on the course too. Funny thing is, she was in more discomfort after the marathon than the 1/2IM. I think that she took two days off after Ralph’s and swam and rode, but didn’t really get a good run in before the marathon.
