I’m running Berlin Marathon on September 20th. At the moment I’m building my base fitness, increasing mileage very slow. I’ve run one marathon before so I have some idea about what it takes.
But, I’m going to Australia on vacation for a month, starting in the beginning of July. I expect that I won’t have time to run very much during the month. I guess I can sneak in an hour here and there.
I would like to get some inputs on how to plan my training in the best possible way!?
Should I plan so I peak twice, before and after my vacation, or should I try to maintain my level of fitness during my vacation and only peak on race day?

Don’t peak unless you have a race planned. Remember, in Australia you won’t have to work your runs in around the Aahus rain.
You will do just fine, provided you run several times on vacation. There must be some way to sneak in maybe 2 2-hour runs and few more 1-hour runs right? If you can, I doubt you will lose any fitness at all. Just plan on a big May & June, lots of rest in July & ramp it back up in August
Last summer I was getting in good tri shape April to mid-June (almost PR-shape in oly & sprint races), then traveled Europe for 17 days including flying. Zero biking, zero swimming, just a few 1-hour runs. I returned, put in 3-4 weeks of solid training, tapered a week and managed 10-mnin. half IM PR (4:33) in early August.
