Manufacturer's Wetsuit Sizing Recommendations

In your experience are those recommendations on the tags of the wetsuits correct? While trying on a 2XU elite and Zoot Z1 I feel that I need larger than the manufacturer suggests on both. The length seems ok but I should weigh 30 pounds more for it to fit like they say. Thanks

We see that they are very accurate with few exceptions. As you get into the more expensive ultra-flexible fabric suits you may need to size down slightly due to the extra stretch inherent in the fabric. For the most part though the size charts seem pretty darn good.

This might be a useful resource also:

regarding 2XU, we have found the charts to be very accurate.

I do like to see people on the lower end of the weight range, but we have had great success with the size chart.

the key is that you need to get the rubber in the right place for it to work properly. the inseam has to be very snug prior to pulling the top half on to start with. once the top is on, the arms need to be pulled up to give room in the shoulders prior to zipping up.
finally, I like to grab one last handful of rubber in the gut to bring it to the upper body. once the rubber is all in place, it should work well.

hope this helps

very helpful advice and link, thanks

Tom,

That’s right. With the Nineteen Frequency, if you are in the middle of the height range and towards the bottom half of the weight range for that size there is a good chance that you can go down one size in the Frequency. Otherwise, I have found that the Nineteen size chart is dead-on accurate. It’s important that their is a linkage between the chart, the suit and the persons body demensions. For Nineteen, we make sure that those three things are all lined up. Otherwise it’s very frustrating for both our retail customers and our end user customers. This makes selling and shopping for wetsuits much easier.
