Maintenance Fitness Protocol?

After IMCDA, I’m going to take July and August ‘off’ from training…I’ll be ready for a break from the training I’ve become used to over the last 5-6 months. While training for IMAZ, I was averaging about 18-20 hours a week. As I prep for IMCDA, I’ll increase the hours just a bit.

I want to do some late season races; LA Tri, and Soma 1/2 here in Tempe. During my ‘off’ months I don’t plan on doing any swimming. In regards to running and cycling, what kind of training frequency/intensity/volume should I maintain so I don’t lose too much fitness? I’m not looking to maintain IM fitness during this time, but I would like to ‘get back into it’ in early September without starting from square one.

Any thoughts?
