Magura TT Brake Levers with Upturned Basebar

From the looks of the Magura TT brake lever, it seems that it was developed to be used with a flat basebar, meaning no upturns by the brake levers. But I also see these levers placed on the 3T Aura on NP3s/P5s and also on the new Shivs with their upturned base bar.

So my question: Is there really a considerable difference between what type of base bar you are using?

For what it’s worth, I much prefer the look of the flat base bar end, I think it would be more aero, and my riding style/terrain is perfectly fine without the additional grip of an upturn.

I think the upturn levers is just a compromise between comfort and safety to noobs and aerodynamics. Maybe damon can chime in on the drag penalty but to me it is just aesthetically a NO GO.

Maybe your LBS can swap a brezza on there. You can always use bartape to create an ‘knob’ for extra grip if you need it.

Hi Jack,

Correct, we designed the aerodynamics of the Magura lever for flat base bars. We never even checked them on an upturned bar, though obviously they work well on them functionally.

Cheers,
