(XYZ bike shop) is proud to announce the imminent arrival of Trek’s new super bike, the 2005 Madone SSL. Developed specifically for the Alpe d’Huez time trial in the 2004 Tour de France, this frame utilizes the OCLV 55 carbon fiber hitherto only available for construction of satellites.
Through the use of this material, Trek was able to produce a 950-gram frame with unparalleled torsional rigidity, bottom bracket stiffness, drive train efficiency and the ride comfort demanded by the world’s best cyclists.
Due to the difficulty of manufacture, high demand by the world’s largest defense contractors and associated availability issues of OCLV 55 carbon, the Madone SSL has been produced in extremely limited numbers. In fact, Team Discovery is only slated to receive Madone SSL frames for the most prestigious and important races and even then, only the team leaders will have access to the bikes.
